Last week at this time I was in Montreal talking to any Canadian strangers I could wrangle about our amazing election — and I’m so glad to be back on my home turf (and still talking about it…)! Congratulations, Arts in Bushwick — BETA Spaces was fabulous last weekend! I hope everyone rested and recovered during the week, because there are some serious rounds to be made this weekend.

Friday night is WHOA. The geniuses at Factory Fresh debut their latest site-specific show: “A Maze, an exhibition and installation of work based on networks and passages. A gallery-sized, 7-foot-tall maze, constructed entirely out of original art” by Celso and infinity. Starr Space is hosting what I’ve heard will be a huge art party: “Triple Canopy is pleased to announce a performance by NEW HUMANS, the collaborative group led by artists MIKA TAJIMA and HOWIE CHEN.” Vanishing Point presents a three band CD release party for Bushwick /Williamsburg based label/collective BNS Sessions (with FREE BEER, recessionistas!). The Laundromat hosts an installation and performance by Danish artists Brian Ravnholt Jepsen & Kristian Byskov. 3rd Ward works it with Fashion Wars Live: A Party for Independent Style (go show ‘em whatcha got). Usaisamonster heads up the bill at Silent Barn.

Saturday, The Pen15 Club presents DimeBag Comics Volume 1 Release Party at Video Gallery. Silent Barn has another full lineup (do those folks ever sleep?) and sleepwhendead presents Wham City’s theatrical adaptation of Jurassic Park (which i’ve heard is mind-blowingly fab) at Market Hotel. Bushwick all-stars Pass Kontrol and Lady Magma take it across the river to Lit Lounge.

The Bushwick Culture team is all fired up — so keep sending us your events and we’ll list ‘em and get folks out to see as many as we can!
